IPC: Visitor & Reception Audit



Section 1: Entrance & Hand Hygiene

Is there a visible hand sanitizing station immediately upon entry to the building?

Are there clear signs prompting visitors to sanitize their hands before entering communal areas?

Is the visitor sign-in book/screen being cleaned/disinfected regularly?

Are 'Outbreak' notices (if applicable) clearly displayed to warn incoming visitors?

Section 2: PPE & Physical Controls

Is there a supply of masks or other required PPE available at the reception desk for visitors?

Are visitors observed using PPE correctly when entering high-risk areas or bedrooms?

Are there touch-free bins available near the exit for the disposal of visitor masks/PPE?

Is the reception area free from unnecessary clutter that could harbor dust or germs?

Section 3: Screening & Policy

Are visitors asked to confirm they are free from symptoms (e.g., cough, fever, GI upset)?

Is there a log of professional visitors (GPs, District Nurses) to assist with contact tracing?

Are contractors' toolkits and equipment kept in a clean condition and away from residents?

Can the receptionist explain the current visiting policy for end-of-life or isolation cases?
